The word shakshuka comes from Arabic and is translated to “a haphazard mixture” or “all mixed up.” Shakshuka is a classic and well-known dish in both North Africa and the Middle East. This is our Whole30 Approved version that comes with roma tomato, spanish onion, red and green peppers, kale, and a poached egg on top. Spiced with mouthwatering flavors like cumin, smoked paprika, turmeric and red pepper flakes, we love it and we know you will too! Local sourcing for our onion comes from Alsum Farms (Friesland, WI). Our eggs come from Lambright Ranch ( Plateville, WI).
Disclaimer: There may be variabilities in cooking time based on equipment used. Always test for temperature until the meal is warmed to your liking. Oven: heat to 350 degrees. Remove plastic film and egg from the container before cooking. Place container on a sheet pan and bake for 10 minutes. Check food then continue cooking for 5-10 minutes or until warm throughout, adding egg for 1-2 minutes at the end.
Microwave: Remove plastic film and egg from container and microwave dish for 2 minutes. Continue to cook in 20 second increments or until warm throughout, adding egg for the last 20-30 seconds.
