Cooked Seeks to Donate Meals to Furloughed Government Workers

Posted by cookedchicago Admin on

Cooked is offering mealtime aid to furloughed government workers not receiving a paycheck. We will be giving away a 1-week meal plan to 100 families living within our current service area (listed at the bottom of this page.

As a small business we know the emotional struggle associated with financial hardship. While we unfortunately can’t help everyone throughout this shutdown, we do hope this will provide physical and emotional support to those involved.

We will be sending up to 30 meals per week throughout the duration of the shutdown. Should the shutdown end before the 100 meals have been delivered, we’ll send all of the remaining meals in the final week to those who have signed up but not yet received a package.

To participate, please contact our customer support team at and provide the following details:

  • Name:
  • Address:
  • Email and Phone Number: (for package tracking and delivery confirmation)
  • Proof of Government Employment and Furloughed Status (please block out any private or personal information, we simply need to confirm that you are in fact impacted by the shutdown).

Our team will respond to you as quickly as possible to confirm your meal, your delivery week and provide delivery information. Your meal package will include four (4) pre-cooked lunches and dinners. Meals will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis. No purchase is required to participate. Meals will be delivered on our next delivery day (Sunday, Monday, and Thursday).

Should the shutdown continue, we will look to find donations from ingredient suppliers in an attempt to continue providing aid. If you are a supplier and interested in making a donation to this cause please contact
