An Interview with Judith from Everydaywhole.com

We got the opportunity to chat with Judith- a moderator from a fantastic Whole 30 Facebook support group and the website everydaywhole.com. Check out some of her summertime Whole 30 advice below!

Hi Judith! Can you tell us a little bit about the Whole30 Facebook support group? How did it begin, and what can users find there today? 

Yes! Our Whole 30 Facebook support group began in 2015  - it originally began as a local group of about 40 moms who lived north of Boston and were trying Whole 30 for the first time. Back then (!), Whole 30 was far less mainstream and there were fewer Whole 30 products and places for support. I posted quite a bit in the group during my first round of Whole 30, in October 2015. At the end of 2015, the group's admin messaged me and asked if I wanted to take over leading the group. I said yes -- and didn't think it would be a big deal. Little did I know what I was getting into! 

As Whole 30 became more popular, the group grew. People joined, loved what they found, and added their friends, neighbors, and colleagues. The word spread and now, the group is more than 41,000 members strong and growing daily. Along the way, I recruited five friends to help me admin the group and we provide around-the-clock Whole 30 support, recipes, tips, giveaways, product recommendations, advice, and more. We have members from around the world, and have successfully helped thousands of people complete the Whole 30 and discover their Food Freedom. 

As an offshoot to the group, we recently started a blog called Everyday Whole to dive deeper into Whole 30-related lifestyle topics, meal prep ideas, product reviews, to share success stories of our group members, and more!

It's all been a labor of love but we have built a warm, caring community -- and we love helping others discover the life-changing ways of Whole 30!

What advice can you share for someone beginning their Whole30 journey this summer? 

Keep it simple! Summertime is the BEST season for Whole 30 with all of the gorgeous fruits and vegetables. Shop your local Farmer's Market or sign up for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program  - there is nothing like the taste of locally-grown produce. 

Use your grill as much as possible for protein - you can grill chicken or steak to get you through many meals. Use leftovers on salads and whip up an easy homemade vinaigrette or grab a bottle of Tessamae's or Primal Kitchen dressing.  If you don't have a grill, get a grill pan for your stove top and you'll be good to go.

You can also throw cut up veggies on the grill - Toss with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, wrap in foil, and throw on the grill. Easy and delicious!

And, always keep some "emergency" protein on hand - compliant hot dogs, frozen beef and chicken burgers, and cans of tuna fish and salmon. There will be days (especially hot ones!) when you don't feel like doing much cooking and these will come in handy! 

Do you have any favorite summertime Whole30 recipes you can share with us? 

I love to grill in the summer - it's easy and very Whole 30-friendly! One of my favorite summertime Whole 30 recipes is this one for 5 Ingredient Hawaiian Chicken Burgers from Physical Kitchness. 

I also love to marinade chicken tenders in The New Primal marinades and throw them on the grill --  no recipe needed! In the summer, I often make my own coleslaw - I grab a bag of pre-shredded cabbage mix and add homemade mayo (I use this recipe from Whole 30), apple cider vinegar, salt, pepper, raisins and raw cashews to taste.

You can also make a classic summertime potato salad, like this one from Jay's Baking Me Crazy, for your outdoor gatherings. No one will even know it's Whole 30!
